    The Long Distance
    Thursday, October 16, 2008
Many of you might not know this cos it's been a real hush hush thing for me ever since I got the news cos I had a hard time accepting it... so I guess it's time to just say it as it is lah. No more keeping it inside cos when it's out, it just feels a whole load better.

My hubby has been posted overseas. Yeah... sad but true. He's like gone to be a tad closer to Sher and CK in the European states. It's not like a few months which I can deal but it's like 2 years.... (yes, gasp please).

I'm doing ok. I didn't cry at the airport. I just dealt with it. So now it feels as though I have a European hubby just without the blonde hair blue eyes (hahaha.. a sad consolation, i know.) So I'm doing the long distance thing which I absolutely hate. I don't know how people can do it... the weird time differences and the whole staying apart thing. Once I had a friend whose boyfriend went to study in London and she did the whole long distance thing for like 4 years (!!!).

At least my hubby is coming home for Christmas before he heads back to Europe for the next six months (SIGH). I really have to get used to the whole time difference and occupy my load of time, so I won't go crazy thinking about this whole thing. See, I'm not even making sense in this blog entry. I think I better stop rattling nonsense. Hahaa.

Right now, I guess it's just the adapting phase and it just feels a little uncomfortable but I believe a whole load of God's grace as the way to resolve this.

Hubby, if you are reading this... COME BACK SOON. lolz.

Ahh .. Jasmine, I left Sg to be with my hubby in NL n guess what .. he travels 200 days out of a year. Of course I shed buckets of tears but the situation is not gonna changed, I hv to change. The key is to keep urself occupied with a job or help out at charity oganisations. Nites r the worst, I know ... I fill up those hours with internet, TV or reading a good book. If u hv family n friends, see more of them - it's one of my fave thing to do.

U mentioned the time diff - I usually skype with my family on weekends, then u would hv all the time to choose instead of time constrains during the week !

Most of all, look outwards n not locked urself inwards. I hope my bit helps.

Well.. me and fiance got used to the whole LDR thing and survived it. It really puts the whole relationship on a different level you know.

Don't let the distance stop you or make your relationship weaker. Believe that Love is very very STRONG! :)

And guess what Internet has got to be the greatest technology invented for LDRs!!!!

      See you soon!!

Babe, I know it's hard and my LDR is probably nothing compared to yours since he's only an hours flight away but still.

I share your pain. Just hang in there and you will get through it. Keep busy with gym, work and time will fly. It's amazing how quick time really does fly when you're occupied.

If anything, you can msn/text me and we can bitch about how much of a bitch time is for going by so slow ok?

      Love you loadssss xoxo

Ooh my goodness! I can't even imagine what you're going through. I'm in a long distance relationship but we're not married. I'm not sure if its easier or harder when you're married but at least you know that in two years you will be together again. When *he* and I first had to part ways we didn't know how long we'd be apart because we aren't citizens in each others' countries.

I wish you all the best Jasmine!

Sorry to hear that. In fact, for my case, my wife had to moved to London and I decided (back then) to take a break from my job and start in London anew. I'm definitely not saying that you should do the same. But then again, it may not even be an option depending on your circumstances.

Anyway, Skype allows video conferencing as well. So that'll help quite a bit.

Well, like what Dutchie suggested, keep yourself occupied and perhaps your husband will be pleasantly surprised by how well you're coping when he return for Christmas.

      All the best. Cheers!
